This album was originally released as an EP and later re-released in Japan as a full length release. Produced by David Zaffiro, former Bloodgood guitarist/Holy Soldier producer.Hard Rock band once touted by erstwhile MEGADETH guitarist Jeff Young, this bunch were led by female vocalist Tracy King and offered a melodic Hard Rock with a vaguely Christian slant lyrically. Of interest to AOR fans is the appearance of ex-SCANDAL guitarist Keith Mack and a track, 'We Will Survive', boasts songwriting credits for ex-RAINBOW vocalist JOE LYNN TURNER, SPYS man Al Greenwood and guitar hotshot Al Pitrelli of SAVATAGE and MEGADETH.Do you love Christian melodic metal in the vein of Holy Soldier? Then you need this CD. A Jap.-only release, it can be pricey, but it's worth it, full of sizzling guitars, sharp hooks, & great production courtesy of David Zaffiro (Holy Soldier; Bloodgood). You'll also discern a bit more attitude here than you typically find in Christian hard rock bands (the last song, "Broken Crowns," is a good example). Why should the devil have all the good music? Well, BROKEN SILENCE is proof he doesn't.Broken Silence are one of the greatest melodic metal bands that you have never heard. Every song has a killer hook, jaw dropping guitar solo, and phenomenal vocals. I wonder why these guys never broke in America. "Discerning the Times" was produced by David Zaffiro, former Bloodgood guitarist/Holy Soldier producer. I originally bought an ep-cd, also called "Discerning the Times," by this band many years ago. When I found this Japanese full length album, I sold the ep and snatched up this 13 song jem.
