A strong contender for the most misleading album cover of all time. You go into the deal expecting something akin to an anointed combination of Bon Jovi and AC/DC,Betwens Others,I do not Mean This is A clone Or Somthing Very Closer To AC/DC But Occationally You May Listen Something Of These Band I Mentioned Here, and you get.... Hmmm, what DO you get? An ooey-gooey, honey-coated hug from a big old, toothless, cuter-than-baby-drool teddy bear. It's making me all warm and embarrassed inside just thinking about it,It Also Reminds(Mike And The Mechanics)The secular 80s Pop Rock Band,A Classic This Album from Allies.

Before Bob Carlisle became known as a father with a soft heart ('Butterfly Kisses'), he teamed up with Randy Thomas, both formerly of Sweet Comfort Band, and made some enduring rock music. This is the second of their six studio albums. Though their later albums received more marketing support, and therefore radio airplay and popular acclaim, this earlier album is just as hot musically. Reminiscent of progressive rock bands like Kansas, and produced by John & Dino Elefante, it features hit songs like 'Let's Fall In Love All Over Again,'And 'Jacque Remembers,' and the tearjerker 'Prayer For the Children.'Allies leaped out of the middling pack and became one of the better Christian pop bands of their time. this time they brought a stronger pack of tunes and it makes for a better 40 minutes. It also placed one track on Christian radio. (#6 hit "If You Believe") There are no outright cringers on this one, although opener "Hardened Hearts" and "Harmony" are less compelling than much of the other material. Those who despise digital drums will dock this album points for that, but c'mon, this was recorded in 1986 and it was the "hip" thing then. Vocalist Bob Carlisle seems in better command of his voice here and spends less time "showing off" his range and more just trying to communicate the lyric. Standouts here are the hunger relief ballad "Prayer for the Children", apocalyptic pop/rocker "Runnin' Out of Time", a song from Jesus' point of view to his disciples ("Somebody Told Me You Were Crying") written as though between His crucifixion and His resurrection 3 days later, "Jacque Remembers" (a new Christian looking back at where she's been...it includes a neat reference to the Beatles 'Getting Better') and a song(autobiographical?) about a musician with a struggling marriage asking for another chance ("Let's Fall in Love)And(All Over Again)".

If you know Bob Carlisle only for his daddy ballad "Butterfly Kisses", you may not realize he made his mark first as a pop/rocker rather than an adult contemporary crooner. Allies paired Carlisle with Randy Thomas, Jim Erickson, Sam Scott and Matthew Chapman in a band that sold respectably in Christian circles through the 80s and early 90s. This album placed 2 hits (#3 "Surrender" and #9 "Don't Run Away") on the Christian radio charts. Allies' popularity probably came in large part due to the soulful grit in Carlisle's vocals on the rockier cuts and clear-cut lyrics. Carlisle's voice is usually an advantage, making cuts like "Second Chance" better than they might otherwise be, although he overdoes it at times ("Pardon Me" veers into Michael Bolton territory). On other songs, even his pipes can't save the song from the trash heap. "Morningstar" features this couplet: "Wish I may Wish I might, open up my eyes tonight and see you face to face my Morningstar".. High points on the CD are "Send Me", "Don't You Worry" and "Don't Keep Him Waiting", which at times sounds like the Police's "white reggae". Low points are the aforementioned "Morningstar" and "Pardon Me". This band would go on to make greater music in the future so if you really want to hear their beginnings, then I Really Recommend you This Two Fisrt Releases. My Final Words, you may listen to all this music on my christian braodcasting radio on the (http://www.holymetalrob.com/)
