BIOGRAPHY:(Crucified Myspace )
Official Website originally formed in 1984 as kgb (kids in God's blessings) with wayne stonecifer on vocals and practicing out of jim chaffin's garage. they hadn't played a show before wayne quit and they got mark salomon for lead screamer. one demo was recorded in 1985 under the kgb name and in 1986, most of them in their mid-teens, they changed their name to "the crucified" and recorded take up your cross. two more demos and two full length albums followed. when i saw them in 1992 they played songs from the upcoming 3rd record... unfortunately for the rest of the planet, that record was never made.
around mid 1993 the crucified disbanded. apparently their individual relationshipswith God were suffering and the band was becoming more important to them than the Lord, the Reason for it's existence in the first place. although they were still disbanded, they did play a few final shows in 1995 - the last one being on friday, 30 june, at cornerstone. according to the heaven's metal (now hm magazine) review.
"the most impressive thing about the crucified's set was the determination to simply glorify God with the set and simply say "thank you" and "goodbye" to the fans. it was clear that this was not the start of a new beginning, but a way of putting a final chapter to a great band...the concert ended by everyone worshiping to the song "awesome God"...it was a special moment...after this was over the audience was screaming for more tunes and the band simply announced, 'we ain't got no more!'."(The Crucified )
REVIEW:(Pillars of Humanity)
This is the most amazing hardcore/metal album ever recorded on thier age,This alblum came out in 92, but the alblum before this is way, way heavier, it is there self titled alblum "The Crucifed" if you like bands like "Slayer" check out "Living Sacrafices" first alblum...these guys were blessed with a gift in which they all used to fufill its rightfull purpose, to Glorify a King, to Please a Father, to be Fishers of people-(mark 1:17), Todays youth may not realize that music like this was not well accepted in much of the christian community. But this band and a couple others were the pioneers that christian hard rock/metal bands of today owe a lot to today. I had these on cassette and have been waiting for Pillars forever to be rereleased so I didn't have to pay some ridiculous price to get it used and it's well worth it. A little hardcore, a lot of thrash, especially on Pillars and just an awesome sound that will have you snapping your neck through the whole album. (not as easy at 41) If you like old school thrash in the vein of Deliverance, (can I say Slayer without anyone getting offended?) Anthrax and some D.R.I. this is speed metal with hooks. Having all the early demos and the DVD is a great bonus and makes this a bargain. Would love to hear more from these guys(http://www.holymetal.org/)
REVIEW:(The Crucified)
This self-title album was released in 1989 under Narrowpath Records and distributed by Pure Metal Records. The band consists of Jim Chaffin (drums), Mark Johnson (bass and vocals), Greg Minier (guitars), and Mark Saloman II (lead vocals). Backing vocals on this album included Larry Farkas (who also played for Vengeance Rising for a while), Chris & Vance Kovacs, and Kevin Kribs. (Interestingly, Jim Chaffin is now playing drums for Once Dead--formerly Vengeance Rising.) I owned "The Crucified" on cassette and just recently purchased "The Complete Collection" on MP3. If you can spare the extra change, go for the upgrade and buy the whole collection--it's available here on Amazon and all the songs from this album are included along with 48 other tracks. The thing that I like the most about The Crucified is that their lyrical content doesn't pull punches. I admire these guys because their lyrics reflect a band that does not fear man (Proverbs 29:25). Their songs convey godly messages and they challenge the listener in many ways. A perfect example is the chorus to "Your Image" -- "When you wake up in hell ask yourself, was your image worth it? Are you proud of yourself? You had a chance to receive, to be a believer, but you turned your back on God to be a crowd pleaser". Their boldness is evident even in the comments section of my cassette insert for this album--"TO OUR LORD AND SAVIOUR JESUS CHRIST TO HIM BE THE GLORY. TO ALL THOSE IN THE CHRISTIAN MEDIA WHO DON'T KNOW WHERE WE'RE COMING FROM . . . SO WHAT? GOD DOES" This is a great album... Hop up on the stage and DIVE IN!,With this album, The Crucified blew the doors clean off of christian music as it is known! Tim's cruching riffs and tasty leads set the most awesome foundation for some of the most in your face truths about life, liberty and the pursuit of Christ. The music outstanding. The lyrical content, unrivaled. Wonder what they're like live? Buy this album, listen to it, and you're there! I've seen 'em three times in CA., and no joke, they can't be touched. MOSH IT UP!(http://www.holymetalrob.com/)
