A Comment from himself Robert Phillips
Robert Phillips learned to play bass at 16yrs. of age playing solely by ear.Listened and quickly picking up bass parts to his Dad's old Ventures albums.Although he is left-handed,there was no left-handed basses to be found in the music store so his Dad bought him a right-handed Fender Precision bass and a Ampeg B-15 classic tube amp.Took him a long time to get the feel for the instrument learning to play right-handed ,but after about 3yrs.he
began to show improvement.Grew up in Fort Wayne,Indiana.Played with a local christian rock group called"Prodigal" And was asked to play bass for a christian group called Evermore,but declining the offer because of the long distance to Claypool,In.He has played bass on several different worship teams at Churches in Fort Wayne.And currently plays bass with various teams at the International House Of Prayer/Fort Wayne. Robert Phillips's influence on music.
My influences are mostly from the heavy rock bands of the late 60's to the late 70's.Mel Schacher of Grand Funk Railroad probally had the greatest impact on me.I learned alot from just listening to his lead runs! Tom Hamilton(Aerosmith)John Enwhisle(The Who)John Paul Jones(Led Zepplin)Jack Bruce(Cream)Franis Buchholz(early Scorpions)Pete Way(UFO)Cliff Williams(AC/DC)NOW I AM UNDER THE INFLUENCE,WISDOM AND ETERNAL GUIDANCE OF THE HOLY SPIRIT THROUGH MY LORD AND SAVIOUR,THE ONLY ONE WHOM CAN SET MEN FREE,JESUS CHRIST,LORD AND KING OF EVERYTHING! Later on came Jim Denton & Roy Montroy(Rez Band)and Rick Cua(R.C.Band)Gary Lunn(Morningstar)And a million others! Also worth a mention,Mark Farner,although not a bassist...he still had this amazing way of communicating to the people,and has a voice of gold...I loved that whinny cryin' lead guitar playin'too! I like to listen to:Rez,Philedelphia,Messiah Prophet,Recon,Scared Warrior,old Saint,Whitecross,Neon Cross,Golgatha,100% Proof,Darrell Mansfield,Mylon Lefevre & Broken Heart,Harvest,Bloodgood,Ken Tamplin,Violet Burning,Rage Of Angels,Xalt,Daniel Band,Jerusaelm,and the list could go on an on! For worship I love anything from the "Passion"conferences,and old "Vineyard" music is great,U.K.Burn Band,Misty Edwards,Morningstar Band,Mike Smith Band,Steve Swanson,Basement Choir,Rita Springer,Molly Williams,Kent Henry,Jim & Will Stern,Evermore,Keith Green was a great influence,his vision and music was most amazing,I'm sure he is rockin' right alongside David.It is my hope to play in their band,to worship the KING and bless HIS name forever and ever,Amen.
Anyway,He Has a great heart for God and Good Influences!! As He Play Very Good The Bass, Robert is one incredibly talented musician.
