In 1990 Chryztyne was formed by Frank Schepp (vox, guit.), Ebi Dudszus (guit.), Thilo Lafferton (guit.), Thomas Kessel (key.), Marcus Lafferton (bass) and Lars Nippa (dr.) in Karlsruhe, Germany. From the very beginning the band took the chance to support international acts like Charizma (Sweden), Whitecross (USA) or Bloodgood (USA).This circumstance quickly allowed the band to play
headliner-shows, big festivals and events. In 1992 Chryztyne produced the EP "In The Darkness Of The Night" (later released on Pila-Music). After finishing the production the band signed a contract for two albums with Pila-Music. Ebi Dudszus, Thilo and Marcus Lafferton decided to leave the band before starting the pre-production of the first album. The guitarists were replaced by 19-year-old extraordinary guitar talent Mathias Loris. New bass player became Hans-Martin Kaufmann. In 1993 the band started the recordings for the debut "Tales Of Paradise", produced by Tommy Clauss (ZAR) and engineered by Achim Köhler, well known as a studio and live engineer for Axxis, Pink Cream 69, Sinner, Primal Fear and many others. After the release of "Tales Of Paradise" in October '93 the band started their 15-month-lasting tour through the Netherlands, Germany, Switzerland and Austria. Playing festivals and shows as headliner and support for REZ (USA), Guardian (USA), Bride (USA), Split Level (UK), Bloodgood (USA), Ken Tamplin (USA), to name a few, they also got airplay and TV presentations. Finishing the tour, mastermind Frank Schepp left the band in the beginning of 1995. For the next months Chryztyne was looking for a new singer until Olaf Hayer (todays voice of Luca Turilli) joined the band in September '95. The few comeback-shows with Olaf had been successful and he was totally accepted by the fans. During the pre-production on the next album the band split in cause of musical differences at the end of '96.(http://www.myspace.com/chryztynetales)
Anyway. This CD is absolutely full of stunning guitar work and raspy singing ala late 80s hair metal style! Probably the best German band Christian or secular, certainly better than Accept,Scorpions,or Helloween. However, this CD is VERY hard to come by, if you see it on Ebay for less than $60, Do pick it up you won't be disappointed by this great work of God's grace!(http://www.holymetalrob.com/)
