Vocalist/guitarist/songwriter Brett Williams had a long and productive Christian music career with the band he co-founded with drummer Vince Grant in 1984, known initially as the Reach, then In Reach, and finally Brett Williams and In Reach. Williams went out on his own in 1994 following the In Reach Power and Promise album, wanting to explore the solo acoustic singer-songwriter route in more depth. He recorded an independent album titled Curio in 1995 and subsequently signed to the Absolute label, which issued Seven Days of Light in 1996. Good, laidback christian AOR CD. It's not heavy but not poppy either. Great melodies and harmony vocals, and good production for an indie release. An above average AOR CD,So This is In Reach And About The first album and very nice it is too. Rock gospel with a couple of indie twinges. Rock guitar, Drums, Bass but intertwined with refreshing breaks of acoustic guitar as well. A bit like Petra meets Phil Keaggy really, in fact the lead singer actually sounds like the aforementioned gentleman though I'm certain this is by accident and not design. The album opens nicely with a track entitled "Prayer", not an original title maybe but still it's a pretty good song, and I'm happy to report that unlike other albums sometimes'Waterline' does not run out of steam after three songs but keeps on going to the end. Go down your local (bookshop!) and get them to play it for you, especially track nine, "Manner Of Man".Your favourite mag did one of its famed messups reviewing In Reach's (as they were then simply known) debut album. They called the band Waterline (that was the album title). This offering is classy AOR that winds itself into your brain by virtue of gifted songwriting skills and great guitar work. "Best For Me" opens the set and US CCM Number One it has written all over it. Lovely start, diary style, then breaking into upbeat chorus. Brett carries on with both pace and power until track four when he bares his soul even more with "Myth Of Me". This is an ultra-personal, acoustic based song which will mean an awful lot to anyone who normally appears so confident on the outside, but realises that only comes about through what's inside our hearts. Then there's a touch of Beatles about "Savannah" with rangy guitar work swirling around giving a very indie/60s mix. Brett's talent is obviously putting over his own feelings, explaining himself through his emotions, and "Prayer" is another example along this line. This is a great album overall, with a few boring tracks just spoiling the party a little near the end(http://www.holymetalrob.com/)
