REVIEWS FOR ALBUMS:(The Man Inside)
Praise God! Another Jon Gibson album! It's more than cool to see Mr. Gibson's lyrical and musical talent at work again. I've always been amazed at how he conveys complex feelings and concepts using such down to earth language in his songs. That's a rare talent, and one he's known for. I've been a fan ever since I was a little kid. Like 8 or 9. I was born in '78. Stay encouraged Jon! God is good. Keep your heart set on God's awards, even though the man made ones like the Doves haven't recognized you. That's OK, 'cause it's all for God's glory, and your efforts have not gone unnoticed. You're my favorite singer, man! God bless you.J.G. is THE most underrated CCM veteran... can't fathom why. Country Christian is a fave rave in my woods (not mine though, uhn uhn)... "The Man Inside" would be a welcome change... I mean, gee whiz, c'mon, man. is okay, bar "Gone With You" (not just because it puts it foot on the CCM/secular boundary, but because... I don't really like it, hehe). "Laying In The Street" is reminiscent of "In Too Deep" from the "Jesus Loves Ya" outing. The best track is hard to say, but when it comes down to the wire... it would have to be "Don't Ever" for its message and its rhythm/melody. The interlude before that just leads you into "Don't Ever," and you start gettin' and to it and start turning up the volume. A close 2nd is "There For You" (considering that Jon sounds remarkably sounds like Stevie Wonder, f.y.i.) for its melody and musical accompaniment. "Fly With The Wind" is good lyric-wise, but don't sleep on Jon's vocals, both mesh together nicely. Tracks like "The Man Inside" and "Get It Together" are simple R&B tracks... but they don't fail to move you and still incorporate the message of God into the mix. The only thing I think J.G. should've did differently was a remix of "God Will Find Ya" that actually had a tempo. Overall, a solid album with a lot of tracks that could be possible singles (if some radio stations even PLAYED J.G. once in a while), but more on the secular side And Now On Christianrockzone On the Weekends (I think he meant to do that, hence "Gone With You" and "Your Love Is Like That"), but a shoe-in for J.G.'s best effort, which is saying a lot.

REVIEW FOR THE ALBUM(Forever Friends)
Jon Gibson did a really good job on his part in the CD. God was with him; I don't think I'll ever forget the way those songs soften me up everytime I here them.Let's get this out of the way quickly: Christian singer/songwriter/keyboardist Jon Gibson sounds like Stevie Wonder. A LOT like Stevie Wonder. So it's probably no surprise he covers (and very well, too) a Wonder nugget called Happier Than The Morning Sun. It's a highlight on an album overflowing with highlights. Gibson loves R&B and he loves pop and the two mesh to perfection on this 1992 recording. At times he'll being in a contemporary edge -- note the sequencing and rap on the opening track, You Are The One -- at other times he'll go way back to old-time gospel (the album's final song, a cover of the 1969 Edwin Hawkins classic To My Father's House). In between this boundaries are wonderous and joyful listening experiences like You've Gotta Love Somebody and Happy To Know Jesus. As the song titles make clear, Gibson isn't a lyrical Hemingway...he states his faith, the things that move him, with a direct simplicity. And that's fine, 'cause all the while you're grooving along with a smile on your face.

REVIEW FOR THE ALBUM(BODY & SOUL-1989)
I have them All of them And I enjoy listening to them as well as all of his other ones. It's very hard to choose a favorite, since I love them all of them and. Overall I would say "Forever Friends" is on of my favorite. Jon is an awesome brother in the Lord and his music speaks from the heart. He writes the kind of songs that I would write if I had his talent for songwriting. He doesnt get enough time on Christian radio stations, but once you listen to him one time, you will be hooked on his style. He's very relaxing to listen to and I know after talking with him how much he truely loves the Lord Jesus Christ. Tell everyone you know about Jon so that more people can be blessed by him. These were among the first of a great series of Gospel CDs by Jon Gibson. While the music industry has never given him his due, artists have. Body and Soul is probably his best work, and one of the definitive Gospel CDs of the decade.

BIOGRAPHY:
Wow! Has it really been 25 years since this came out? Anyone who is a diehard fan of Jon Gibson, knows that this release was his best work. Not to say that his work since has been weak, far from it. Those of us who have listened to this one on our old casettes and LP's are finally upgrading to this. The mix is original with one bonus track. To hear these well crafted, well played, unbelievebly sung songs in digital format is really a treat. Sonically, it could have been mastered a bit better, but not to worry. This CD will not dissapoint. If you love Jon's music, and more importantly his heart, get this CD. You will not regret it. One of the most prolific singer/songwriters around, Jon Gibson has crossed paths with some of music’s top Artists. People like Stevie Wonder, Michael Jackson, Rick James, Miles Davis, Sammy Davis Jr., Nelson Riddle, Andre Crouch and MC Hammer to name a few. He was a dominate force in CCM and Gospel Music for more than a decade producing a string of 22 Top 5 Hits and 9 no.1 songs, a CCM "Album of the Year". His smash hit “Jesus Love ya” still holds the record as the longest playing no.1 single in Christian music history. One of only a handful of Artists to influence both the "Gospel" and "Mainstream" music scene, Jon has been featured in TIME/LIFE'S.Jon was honored to be a center piece in the CBS documentary "Rhythm Of The Heart" the roots and history of Gospel Music, hosted by the former anchor of "Good Morning America".Jon's unique vocal tone, similar to that of Hathaway and Wonder along with his masterful ability to phrase melody and lyrics has made him a cult favorite amongst R&B and Soul music enthusiasts around the world. His timeless songs, thought provoking lyrics and infectious grooves have crossed several generations and continue to influence some of today’s top music makers and performers. There is a positive and uplifting theme in all of Jon's recordings that touch the hearts of people of all ages, backgrounds and religious beliefs. His compositions have been the subject of study at major universities such as UC Berkeley and his arrangements have gained him international respect among musicians. Jon married Lisa Rea Gibson, an industry professional in 1995, and since then have had three children; Jonathon Thomas Gibson 11, James Robert Gibson 10, and Jesse Earl Gibson 2 years and 6 months. Jon is currently in the studio recording his 10th solo release entitled "The Horizons of Knowing" which will be ready for release in late November/early December. Inspired by the recent death of Jon's beloved father Stanley Earl Gibson, the project is dedicated to his life and memory. Jon is currently seeking a home for the project and a publishing deal with a growing catalog of over 120 published works and 300 unpublished songs. about him there is too much to talk this Young rebel grows up on the streets of San Francisco, joins the military, comes home to find his father has become a Christian, accepts Christ, and begins to use his talents for God. Jon has been Instrumental in changing the face of Christian music with his soulful pop sound. He first entered the Christian music scene by what some would call an accident. Local bookstore manager, Brian Tong, heard Jon WarnerBrothers/Solar/Constellation release, STANDING ON THE ONE, on a secular radio station. He realized that beneath the slick and savvy production was a powerful message about JESUS. Brian bought the album and took it to K.Y.M.S., a Christian radio station based in Orange County, California. It soon became the first Christian radio station in the world to play a Jon Gibson record. It was during those old Solar days that Jon and Michael Jackson worked together on a song called SO SHY as special guests on Bill Wolfers first solo album entitled WOLF, also a Solar/Constellation release. Bill worked with Michael on the albums OFF THE WALL and THRILLER and previously toured with the Jacksons as a keyboardist on their VICTORY TOUR. During the recording of Jon's first solo album, STANDING ON THE ONE, Bill Wolfer introduced Jon to a new friend, Stevie Wonder. Jon went on to make his next record. ON THE RUN, which was well received rendering his first number one single on Christian radio entitled GOD LOVES A BROKEN HEART. During this period, Jon befriended the first and yet unknown Christian rapper named Kirk Burrell, who had an Oakland based gospel rap group called THE HOLY GHOST BOYS. In 1986, Kirk Burrell, along with Tramaine Hawkins, performed with Jon's band doing several concerts in various halls such as the Beverly Theatre in Beverly Hills. Jon went on to sign with Frontline Records for his forth record endeavor entitled CHANGE OF HEART which rendered Gibson his second number one hit FRIEND IN YOU It was on this historical project that Jon and Kirk Burrell recorded a song together entitled THE WALL. It was within the lyrics of this song that Burrell first identified himself as M.C. Hammer, a performer who would later become one the biggest phenomenons in the history of the music business. The Wall was the first contemporary Christian song to bring Christian rap to the ears of its listeners and was instrumental in opening the door for many Christian rappers to follow. In 1989 Jon was reunited with his original producer, Bill Wolfer, to create his next record entitled BODY AND SOUL. The album netted him three more top ten singles, FATHER FATHER, IN THE NAME OF THE LORD and EVERYONE NEEDS THE LORD. It was on the BODY AND SOUL album that longtime influence and friend, Stevie Wonder recorded with Jon to remake HAVE A TALK WITH GOD originally recorded by Stevie on the his SONGS IN THE KEY OF LIFE album. In 1990, Jon produced his own album for the first time entitled JESUS LOVES YA. The title song perched atop CCM's pop chart for over four weeks, making it Gibson's biggest hit to date. The album rendered him still another number one hit entitled LOVE COME DOWN. Jon's production, FOREVER FRIENDS, surely continues in the tradition of top ten airplay. The number one singles, HAPPY TO KNOW JESUS and CANT LIVE WITHOUT JESUS, soared the album to the number one position on the charts and enjoys continuous airplay today as do many of Jons albums. The LOVE EDUCATION album, Jon not only wrote and produced it, but also played most of the instruments. Love Education has had two top ten single releases and Plans are to release a third one. Jon makes note on this album that radio is opening up to Christian artist and some of the singers form the 50s through the 90s are the very same people worship leaders today are drawing inspiration from. Jon Gibson is one of the most prolific writers in contemporary music today. He is determined to improve the quality of Christian music by widening its preconceived boundaries and questioning its limits. Jon believes that no matter what you do in the service of the Lord, It has to be the best you can do with what you have. Jon is currently working on his new POP/CCM album for B Rite/Interscope records, the number one gospel record company in the industry. This will be the first of Jons releases that will have a major influence in both secular and Christian Radio and reach-out to the POP, CCM, and Gospel markets. For Jon reaching out to the secular market with Gods message is something he has always wanted to do, and the time is right. B-Right is also excited about Jons new Soul to Praise album soon to be released. The owners of B-Rite (also Kirk Franklin and the familys record company) and Jon share the same energy and ambition in get ting Gods message out to people through music. Jon has recently signed a major (5) record, Producer and Solo Artist deal with B-Rite/Interscope as a Pop and Gospel Artist.
