I Have Got Some Commenteries From Somewhere Else Who Say
That They Have Released Two Demos More
And Other Dinied The Existence Of The Other Demos
So If You Know Something You Think You Can Help With
That Would Be Fine if You Help Us Commenting
HERE IS THE FIRST COMMENT ABOUT
By bluesguitarhero:These guys exemplified everything that was great about 80's Christian rock! They should have been a household name. No kidding! They were that good! No, I don't just mean because they had the perfect "80's hairband look", they did but that's not what I'm talking about. lol. I saw them live quite a few times in Houston. I saw them open for Holy Soldier, Barren Cross, Bride. Anyone in the audience would have told you that Straightway blew the headliners off the stage. I also caught them in San Antonio, Austin and Palestine. They were the best Christian rock band I've seen live period! One of the best bands I've ever seen period! I remember seeing Doug Pinnick from King's X at some of their shows. I remember hearing that one of the guys in Straightway went to the same church with him and also Ben, the singer from from Galactic Cowboys. The lead guitar player, Doug, was easily as good as Rex Carrol from White cross or Tony Palacios from Guardian. Really I'd say he was better. this CD doesn't begin to showcase what he was capable of! The rhythm guitar player, Mike, was a mad man live! He did some crazy variations of throwing his guitar around his neck, did every jump, kick, spin, flip and guitar hero move you've ever seen and a lot you've never seen! The drummer, Damon, was probably the best "showman" I've ever seen. He blew away Robert Sweet, Rikki Rocket and Tommy Lee. He did a lot of tricks that you just didn't see any one else doing. It was amazing to watch him spinning, flipping and juggling his sticks while he was steadily throwing that long mayne of blonde hair around in true 80's style. He had these cool 4 foot long drum sticks that he played with during his drum solo too. The singer, David Walton, was great. His voice was even better live than on this CD. He actually had a lot more range and power. When he let go live it just rocked! He also played keyboards on a few songs. The bass player, Mark, seemed like he was the one that held it all together. He shared the stage with a guitar virtuoso and two of the most out of control showmen I've ever seen and yet he was as able to keep it in the pocket. He was as solid as they come. He played some really cool bass lines. The coolest thing about these guys for me is that they seemed like the most "on fire" band around. They were not ashamed of being Christians! They were all about spreading the word. David and Damon would share their testimony, quote and explain scriptures, teach and preach in between songs. They even had alter calls at their shows! One thing that was really cool was they would have volunteers from a local church on hand to help with the alter call. When they opened for Holy Soldier it was at a secular nightclub. They didn't hold back at all. In fact, Jesus walked right through the audience and up onto the stage! No kidding! They had this guy that did portrayals of Christ show up and trip everyone out! It was awesome! You could have heard a pin drop! The guys from Holy Soldier even came running out to check it out. A friend of mine in New York Showed me a bootleg video years ago of Straightway's video for the single, Black or White. The big name signed Christian bands back then didn't even have videos like that! I can't believe they never got it released. If TBN's Real Videos had ever even played that video once, Straightway would have been signed the next day and the rest would've been history! They played songs live that were going to be on their second CD. If that CD had been released they would have been at the top of the Christian rock scene! I can't even compare it to anyone because it was so original. I heard that the songs on Black or White were written and recorded right after they got together. This CD is a great glimpse at a band that should've been, but it's nothing compared to where these guys were at before they disolved the band. Don't get me wrong, I love the songs on this CD and still listen to it 18 years later, but I remember this band, their music their show and their message like it was yesterday. I know what they should've been!good luck finding this CD though. I had a couple people email me from another site wanting me to make them a copy. No go! They said that it was going for $150! Peaked my curiosity so now I google it once in a while. I've seen it for sale all over the world in the last couple years! I just googled it and you can buy it in Germany for $145.28 or Montreal for the bargain price of $300! I think I'll hold on to my copy! lol. If you can find it ...buy it!Oh by the way, Robertigno was wrong, they never released a demo as Straightline or one named "in the nick of time". They did do a demo with the name Soldier but it wasn't all the same members. There was also a great 2 song Demo as Straightway with David's testimony on one side and Damon's testimony on the other side(http://www.holymetalrob.com/)
