An all around classy AOR CD. First rate 80’ Christian rock with great vocals, guitars & keyboards. This is a great CD for fans of Survivor, Journey, Stan Bush, & Pride of Lions. Cry Holy play their music with passion, style & grace. Hailing from Seattle, Washington, these guys play some of the best Christian rock available today. This being their second release, follow-up to their debut “Ten From Two”. The band has really outdone themselves with this release. They are a class act all the way.“AlieNation” is an out-of-this-world collection of uplifting, heartfelt melodic rock songs with super composition. The songs are full of catchy choruses, with excellent vocals & harmonies. There are also a lot of great guitar solos & flowing keyboards, which make for a completely well rounded melodic rock CD. A truly inspiring release from a group of masterful musicians that is sure to please. A highly recommended CD,so don’t be alienated...get your copy today. Beautifully composed songs with all the key elements of a melodic rock gem. Great guitars, catchy choruses, awesome vocals & plenty of keys, make this album an AOR classic. This Christian AOR/melodic rock band isn't good enough to make your eyes water, but if you like things on the lighter side, it's decent stuff. Hard rock enthusiasts may be irked that the band lets acoustic guitars dominate too many songs, but the hooks are there, along with some solid harmonies."AlienNation" is of a much lighter fare than I usually listen to. This is melodic rock along the same lines as bands like Whiteheart, Alies, The Kry and Petra. However, while some of those bands have their harder rocking numbers, "AlieNation" stears clear from this for the most part. That is not to say that this CD isn't worth a listen, however. Actually, this is a very good CD with a ton of heart, emotion and musical hook. Had this CD been release in 1988 on a label like Sparrow or Word, I can imagine that every Christian CCM station would have been playing it. Everything from the smooth vocals, to the songwriting, to the musicianship is all very good. There are some nice mixtures of electric and acoustic guitars, piano, keyboards and even some nice guitar solos. The guitar and keyboard solos in "Masquerade Ball" in particular stood out in my mind. The lyrics throughout are all based on Christian ideals, although I found them to be more personal than preachy. Fans of 1980's AOR will probably appreciated this CD quite a bit, while those into the harder end of the spectrum might be put off, especially considering this CD was released on Metal Mayhem Music. There isn't even one ounce of metal on here...

Self Review From Their Members of the Band CRY HOLY
Cry Holy is a six piece Christian rock band from Seattle, WA. Influenced by many great performers before us, but forging a sound all our own, we believe that you can provide a Christian message in the music without compromising the music for the message. Our story starts with guitar player James Henry and drummer Mike Maxwell working together around 1991 under the moniker Sahara Rain to record such songs as 'Shadow Of My Wings' and 'Streets Of Gold'. The recordings took place at Starlake Studio with Producer Al Sieg behind the recording console.
Around 1996, Vocalist Randy Loran came across 'Shadow Of My Wings' in New York. He liked the song, and called James and Mike wondering if they would be interested in getting together. He moved to Seattle shortly thereafter. His brother Scott decided the NW would also be a good place to live & subsequently moved here from Illinois. Within a short time Erik Routson & Gary Reems joined the group to cover the Bass & Keyboard duties. Cry Holy was complete. The next series of songs were recorded with this line-up now known as Cry Holy with Al again producing at Starlake Studio. These tracks would eventually wind up on Ten from Two,In 1998 we won the Washington State Christian Talent Contest. We won first in bands, and grand prize out of all categories represented. Played live many places including churches, clubs, Mural Amphitheatre underneath the Seattle Space Needle, and Hopefest, a three day Christian Music Festival with Petra on the bill. We then released our first album "Ten From Two" on German label Aorheaven.Update - Second release "Alienation" due out on Now and then /Frontiers Records in the April 2005! Our newest band member Monty Smith has joined to help with guitars, vocals & producing the new project. Monty has worked with Alice Cooper, Blue Oyster Cult, and the Joseph Lee Wood Band.He has helped fill the void since lead guitar player James Henry left the band in 2000 to pursue leading worship at Calvary Community Church, and rhythm guitar player Scott Loran also left in 2000 to move back to Syracuse New York, but both can be heard on tracks from the upcoming album as well(http://www.holymetalrob.com/)
